The Green Bay Packers’ roster is bulging with 80 players as training camp opens, but no more than 10 jobs will be up for grabs during the dog days of August.
Of the 53 available roster spots, 43 are all but locked up before the players don helmets and shoulder pads. But just because 81 percent of the team has been determined doesn’t mean there won’t be some spirited competition on Ray Nitschke Field, the Packers’ new training camp home. Six starting positions must be decided: right tackle, center, tight end, fullback, right outside linebacker and punter.
