Packers linebacker Brad Jones more than adequate filling in for Aaron Kampman

For all the talk about the play of Clay Matthews and B.J. Raji, fellow rookie Brad Jones has done more than just hold his own of late.

In place of the injured Aaron Kampman, who was lost for the season with a knee injury on Nov. 22, Jones has been more than just an adequate fill-in at outside linebacker, especially for a seventh-round pick who got off to a slow start by missing nearly three weeks of training camp because of back injury.

Jones is raw and probably isn’t bulky enough (239 pounds) or strong enough yet to be effective against the run like Kampman was, but he has been at least as good as Kampman as a pass rusher. Kampman was the team leader in quarterback hits (28) when he got hurt, but Jones has picked up the slack in that area. He has a team-high five quarterback hits in the last two games combined and recorded his first NFL sack on Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens.
