Wednesday was a very, very sad day for all Packer fans as the team announced that beloved, talented, well-respected, and underrated (ESPN barely mentioned it even though he was on par with Ed Reed & Troy Polamalu as the best in the NFL) safety Nick Collins was released due to failing his physical, due to his fluke neck injury last year in week 2 at Carolina.
They play was a seemingly-innocent dump off pass to the running back Jonathan Stewart. But like happened too many times, no linebacker bothered to cover the back, and Stewart had a free run to the secondary and it was Collins who once again stepped up to make the tackle.
While it hurts so much to lose a great player, and person, who was just in the middle of his prime, the Packers did the right thing. It showed that they cared as much for the person than just the player.
Could Dale Moss become the Packers Victor Cruz or Antonio Gates?
