~Fomer Packer great LeRoy Butler shared his keys to the game this Sunday as the Packers open their season in Philadelphia.

NT B.J. Raji has to dominate

“The Eagles’ center, Jamal Jackson, had ACL surgery in the off-season and now is Raji’s chance to show why he was the ninth pick in the draft and prove to everyone he can be a dominant nose guard. Raji has a quick first step and seeing Jackson is coming back from knee surgery, he might be a little slow reacting.

The whole purpose for moving Raji to NT and Pickett to DE is to get more pressure on opposing QBs up the middle from BJ. The Packers will need to see Raji getting to Kolb as he did here to 49ers QB Alex Smith last year.

Raji has to use that first step to get by him and maybe cause some bad snaps by getting him thinking about it too much. I’m expecting big things from him.”

Aaron Rodgers has to handle the blitz

“I know he did a good job against Cleveland, but what happened against Arizona in the playoffs can’t happen again. The offensive line has to give Aaron enough time to make big plays when the Eagles blitz. They can’t go through another season of him getting sacked 50 times. Aaron has to set the protection correctly. He and center Scott Wells have to be on the same page all game long. If the Eagles are wrong with their blitzes, you can get big plays on them. The Packers have to spread them out so he can get some one-on-ones.”

Special teams can’t hurt the team

“You can’t give the offense or defense bad field position. You can’t have a punt blocked and you have to be reasonably good on returns. Philly has quick, opportunistic special teams. It can’t be a liability for the Packers. Seeing how they didn’t sign a return guy or a veteran punter, this is a big test.”
