The Green Bay Packers are 3-1 and hardly in bad straits at the quarter post of the 2010 season.

But some of their players agree with quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ assessment after their win over Detroit last week that the offense hasn’t found its new “identity” since the loss of halfback Ryan Grant to a season-ending injury in the opener.

“Oh, I loved it,” tight end Jermichael Finley said of Rodgers’ comments. “That’s what we need around here, somebody to speak up, and a guy like him to speak up. It was a good thing. I’m with him on that 100 percent, and hopefully things change.”

After the game, Rodgers in effect said he prefers heavily emphasizing the spread passing game coach Mike McCarthy deployed against Chicago two weeks ago — “We’ve got to make sure that we’ve got our best players on the field at all times and find ways to get them the ball,” were Rodgers’ words — rather than seeking more balance between the pass and run, as the Packers did against Philadelphia, Buffalo and Detroit.
